Ants & Community

Ants! They seem to come out of nowhere, yet somehow, they are everywhere. It is that time of year when those little boogers start coming into the house, just to wreak havoc wherever they can.

However, those little ants have taught me a valuable lesson in community. Yes, I said that right — community.

Each morning, I run water all over my sink to wash those little snots down. And what do they do to survive? They band together and grab onto each other to float through the wave.

After the water is gone, they climb off of each other and go their separate ways. Sadly, I have watched this more than I probably should.

This brings me to a point. We, as humans, are not meant to be alone. We need companions we can cling to in times of need. We need people we can grab onto and hold tightly until the water recedes.

This reminds me of the woman who had been suffering from a bleeding issue. She knew that if she could just touch the hem of His garment, she would be healed. She had faith to survive.

Matthew 9:20-21 says, “And behold, a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years came up behind Him, and touched the border of His cloak; for she was saying to herself, ‘If I only touch His cloak, I will get well.’”

May this encourage you today to reach out and grab tightly. Through faith in Him, we will overcome.
