When in doubt, pull out the blocks!

A couple of children were finishing up their writing assignments for the day, and the younger ones needed to be entertained so the older children could have one-on-one time with mom.

The best answer to this is always blocks. Red, Blue, Yellow, and the coveted Green little squares that lock together are the answers to all prayers when needing some quiet time. Why during quiet time? We have trained them starting at an early age. This is a quiet activity, and if they choose not to follow the instructions, they lose the blocks for the day… It is very rare that they lose their privileges.

However, today our littles surprised us with the tape measure. Older brother, 8, was “teaching” younger sister, 4, what the measuring tape displayed. Having her move from one color to the other and adding the lengths up! To say the least, I was amazed. I’ve never taught him that, yet through play, he was teaching others!

So, when you’re in a slump, pull out some blocks and see what happens. You may be amazed at how much your littles know.
