Sometimes school looks different.
As a homeschooling family, we oftentimes put the stress of learning the curriculum over real life.
Sometimes schooling needs to look different.
It needs to look like leaving the kitchen table with books, paper, and pencils, and going for a drive through the countryside. It needs the windows rolled down and counting how many cows are in the field. It needs to be the scavenger hunt of various tree leaves and birds we can find. Tiny fingers softly touching the grass and breathing in the sun.
Did we learn anything today? Of course we did.
We learned that “learning” isn’t always books and paper, but being together as a family. Sharing the one water bottle because we were in a rush out the door and forgot to pack another.
We learned helping the little ones find the differences between bulls and steers… yes, an anatomy lesson happened with lots of giggling.
Sometimes schooling just needs to look different, and that’s okay. We need to remember the clear picture of raising our children to love the different and be thankful for the Lord's gifts of the ordinary. May this encourage you today.
“And thy life shall be clearer than the noonday; Though there be darkness, it shall be as the morning.”
