A Day at the Museum
This school year, we have been making more of an effort to get out of the house, explore our surrounding areas, and remind ourselves that school does not always have to happen at the kitchen table.
This past week, we visited the museum at Mooney’s Grove in Visalia, California, and we had such a good time. We learned several new things, wandered around, asked a million questions, and somehow managed to make an entire school day feel like an adventure instead of...well, school.
That is one of my favorite things about homeschooling. Learning really is everywhere. Sometimes it is in a book, sometimes it is at the kitchen table, and sometimes it is standing in a museum while one of your children asks a question you definitely do not know the answer to.
Getting out of the “schoolroom” is such a sweet reminder that education does not have to be confined to four walls.
So, take the field trip. Visit the little museum. Explore the nearby town. Pack some snacks, load everyone up, and go have an adventure.
You may learn something new...and if nothing else, you will probably make a memory. 🤍
